UCSB STUDENT For ISLA VISTA RECreation & PARK DISTRICT · DEMOCRATIC ENDORSEE
Alec GeoSimonian
“Isla Vista deserves a government as ambitious as the community it serves.”
Overview
I'm 19 years old. I believe Isla Vista's best years are still ahead of it.
I'm running for the Isla Vista Recreation and Park District Board because I believe local government should do more than maintain what we already have. From safer parks to greater local self-government, I want to help build an Isla Vista that works for everyone.
Priority issues
We can't solve every problem overnight. But we can start building a better Isla Vista today.
01
Safer Parks, Safer Isla Vista
Emergency call towers, improved lighting, and safer public spaces for everyone.
02
A Voice of Our Own
With housing costs pushing Isla Vista residents to the brink, we need a greater say in our future. Support incorporating Isla Vista as an independent city to give residents greater control over housing, infrastructure, and local decisions.
03
Bringing Isla Vista Together
Support Soltopia and other community events while expanding student participation in local government through partnerships with UCSB Associated Students.
04
Investing in Isla Vista's Future
Support Measure O renewal, advocate for responsible local funding, and strengthen cooperation between IVRPD, IVCSD, UCSB, and Santa Barbara County.
Our shared Future
An all-hands-on-deck moment for IV.
The challenges facing our community demand more than business as usual. We need students, residents, local institutions, and elected officials working together toward a stronger Isla Vista.
- Every resident has a voice worth hearing.
- Every institution has a responsibility to contribute.
- Every challenge deserves an ambitious response.
- Every opportunity to move Isla Vista forward matters.
